Kansas State USBC BA
2009 Hall of Fame Inductees

      Sharon Billman  (Parsons, Kansas)

Sharon L. Billman was born in Erie, Kansas and is a lifelong Kansan.  She achieved Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Pittsburg State University and was a member of Phi Delta Kappa.  She has been married to David R. Billman Sr. for almost 43 years;  she has one daughter Sharma K Ryan and her husband Pat.  She enjoys her two cats; Petey and Foxy and her grand-dog Lenzi.

Sharon was asked to join her first sanctioned league in 1972 by Inez Root and still bowls on the same team today.  She fell in love the the game and had dreams of becoming a professional bowler, but it never happened, as she didn't have the "God" given talent, so she decided to become more involved with the administrative side of the sport.

Sharon was appointed to the Parson's WIBC board as 1st Vice President in the 1975-76 seasons.  She was President and Vice President for seven years.  She was then elected as a state delegate for the Kansas WBA State Board until she was elected as a Director for the board in 1977, where she served until 1985.  In 1983 the Parson's WIBC board endorsed her resume' to the WIBC National board.  In 1985 Sharon contacted WIBC to become a WIBC field representative, and it took six years for WIBC to contact her to see if she was still interested in the position of a WIBC field representative.  Sharon was hired March 4,. 1991 and retired March 6, 2007 as the ABC/WIBC field representative the late the USBC. She served the state of: Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma.  She has also served the states of; Illinois, Iowa, South Dakota, Arkansas, Wyoming and Colorado.  Sharon was asked to resign from the KWBA Board of Directors when she as hired and accepted the roll from WIBC/ABC field representative position.  She was instrumental in inviting the WIBC field representative to visit and host the Kansas State annual meeting, also starting a local Hall of Fame and holding joint jamborees with the ABC associations.  After several year, the field staffs joined together and she began serving the ABC, WIBC, and YABA associations.

Sharon attended the Kansas School of Ministry and was ordained as a Priest in 2003.  where she serves as the Vicar at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Parsons, Kansas, where she has been a member since 1965

Sharon has many individual accomplishments and goals, but we will let her tell us the stores when she speaks to us tonight.  To sum it up, it's great to have her as our field representative, even though she was strict and always taught us to do every bowling thing by the book!  When we locked horns and agreed to disagree strongly at times, we knew we could always count on Sharon for support and advice for Kansas!  Congratulations on being elected a member of the Kansas State USBC Bowling Association's Hall of Fame, the years of dedications and devotion to the sport will be missed.
