Michael R. Miller
Michael began serving in the Lawrence Bowling Association as a Director in 1990. In 1992 he was elected the 2nd Vice President and held his office until 1996 when he was elected 1st Vice President. He was awarded the Lawrence Bowling Association's Director of the Year awarded in 1992. In 2000 he was inducted into the Lawrence Bowling Association's Hall of Fame.
In 1998, Michael became involved with the YABA. His primary responsibility was for league and tournament operations, including the Annual Professional Bowler's Day in Lawrence. He expanded the number of certified coaches from four in 1990 to 15 certified coaches throughout the state of Kansas by the 1993-1994 season. He overseas an active Youth Leader Program and assists the other programs as Co-Director of the Lawrence YABA scholarship fund, which has resulted in $40,000.00 in scholarships being awarded over a 10 year period for the tournament. He is program Director for the Lawrence YABA. In 1990 he became a YABA coach, in 1991 a YABA Registered Coach and in 1997 a Junior Olympic Level I coach.
In 1992, Michael was elected to the Kansas YABA Council of Delegates as a reprehensive to the Kansas YABA managing board. He is the Chair of the Youth Leaders Committee, Chair of the Education Committee, a member of the Kansas Bowling Council where he served as President from 1996 - 1998. He is also Secretary of the managing board.
Michael's hard work and dedication to the youth bowling program in Lawrence and throughout the state of Kansas has earned him the privilege to become a member of our Kansas State Bowling Association's Hall of Fame! He is a tireless promoter of bowling through his activities in the Lawrence Bowling Association, the Lawrence YABA and the Kansas Council of Delegates. He dedicates every Saturday form August through May for our future in the game of Bowling, the youth bowlers are very fortunate to have a man like Michael! Congratulations!
Guy L. Bowles
Guy was Born in Salina, Kansas in 1944. He attended Brown Mackie Business College and received a degree in Computer Programming and Accounting. In 1969 he began working for the National Bank of America, and currently holds the Vice President in charge of Correspondent Banks. He has also held the position of Manager of Comptronics, including mainframe programming.
Guy started bowling at the tender age of 12 when he joined the AJBC. At the young age of 16, he became an ABC member and started bowling in the ABC National tournament, where he has participated in over 30 straight years of competition. He has also helped the youth in Salina, as a YABA instructor and coach.
Guy has served the local bowlers in Salina, as a league President, a league Secretary and a Director for the Saline Bowling Association. While on the Saline Bowling Association, he served as President from 1976-1977 and again in 1991-1992. He was also involved with the board until 1999, when his current job took him to the state of Florida. He served on the Kansas State Bowling Association board of Directors from 1988 -1999. While serving on the KSBA he held many responsibilities as Chairman of the by-laws committee, chairman for the Secretary/Treasurer selection committee and Chairman of our Budget and Finance committee.
Guy has a high game of 290 and a high series of 750, with a high book average 202. While his performance on the lane may not impress you, his knowledge and willingness to help all bowlers at all levels will definitely secure his presence tonight, as we welcome him into the Kansas State Bowling Association's Hall of Fame! We would like to thank you for all your had work and many countless hours of dedicated work you have volunteered for in Salina and while serving on the KSBA.
