2002 Hall of Fame Inductees

Jack Connaughton

Jack has been a resident of Manhattan since 1980. He has 2 -800 series, 11 -300 games to his credit of which 1-800 series, 3-300 game, 1-299 and 3-11 in a row award coming from the Manhattan Bowling Association. He has a lifetime 206 average and has received the Association award form ABC for high average in Manhattan.

Jack was elected to the Board of Directors in Manhattan in the year 2000. He has participated in the ABC Tournament for 35 years and this year makes his 36th ABC tournament. (This is why he is unable to be her tonight, he is participating in the ABC national tournament in Billings) He is a regular participant in the local and state bowling tournament. While participating in the Manhattan Association's City Tournament he has been a champion in the Doubles event three times. All Events three times and a Top Ten Champion.

We would like to congratulate Jack on his Accomplishments and welcome him into the KSBA Hall of Fame!

Dale Euwer

Dale was born on a farm near Horton in 1949, and has lived his entire life in Kansas . He moved to Topeka in 1965 and began bowling in 1966 at the young age of 17! He has 24 career 300 games to his credit, 7-800 series and numerous 700 series. He has a high average of 22. He has participated in the Topeka's Top Ten 23 times and a Champion of this Tournament 3 times. He has been named Bowler of the Year in Topeka 5 Times.

Dale is a champion bowler who represented his hometown, his state and his country in the sport of bowling. He received four Gold medals for the 1977 FIQ tournament in Panama. (with 18 countries competition). He won the Gold Medals in the 8 -man, the 5 man, the 2 man and all events. He was named "Armature Bowler of the World" in 1977 by the bowler's journal. In 1979 he again qualified for the FIQ tournament in the Philippines, where he won a Silver Medal in the team event.

Dale has competed in the ABC national tournament 19 years. He is a member of the 1985 Team ALL-Events title with a score of 9343. His team (The Pony Express) from St. Joseph's Missouri. He is an "Eagle" member of the ABC national tournament.

Dale has won many titles in the City, State, National and Regional levels, in singles, doubles, team events and all-events. His most current City title came in 2001 in the Team Event. He is a member of the TBA "Hall of Fame" and a very deserving individual of the TBA "Hall of Fame". Congratulations!

Rex Haney

Rex and Kathi Haney became owners of ReKat Recreation, Inc. in 1996 of the Gage Bowls in Topeka. Rex grew up in Cherryvale. He would have to be considered a " Hands on Operator". His career led him through Starlite Lanes in McPherson from 1976 to 1981. In 1981 he became the general manager of Gage Bowls and New Holiday Bowl in Salina. In 1989 his duties expanded to include general manager of Property Management Company, responsible for over 100,000 square feet of retail and office space.

Rex has been involved in all aspects of the "Game of Bowling". Some of his accomplishments: hosted the 1985 and 1986 Women's US open, Managing Board of YABA(1995-1999), President of KSBP (1989-1990) and President of BPAA (1998-2000). He has also presented many seminars on bowling across the country including National Conventions as well as Regional and State Conventions.

Rex is a member of the TBA "Hall of Fame" and also a 2001 TBA Team Champion of the TBA City Tournament. He is a graduate from WU in Political Science and Pre-Law. He and his wife Kathi, have two sons (Britt a graduate of KU and Bernie a graduate of KSU).

We would like to thank Rex for all his dedication and hard work he has done and accomplished kin the sport of bowling. A well deserving man. Let welcome him into our KSBA "Hall of Fame". Thanks Rex for all you have done.
