2002 Hall of Fame Inductees

Rick Steelsmith

Rick is no stranger to the game of bowling. Here are a few of the accomplishments he has made in his short life. In 1996 Bowlers Journal Amateur All American Team, 4-time Collegiate 1st team All-American, 1987 Collegiate National Championship Team, 1987 ABC Bud Light Masters Champion, 1987 World FIQ in Helsinki, Finland participant ( he won 2 Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal and 2 Bronze Medals). He has also recorded the first ever game of 300 in FIQ history. A member of the 1987 Tournament of Americans (he won 2 1st place finishes, 1 2nd place finish and 1 3rd place finish). 1987 Bowling Magazine 1st Team All-American (he was the 1st Amateur to ever be on the 1st team). 1987 Team USA member, 1987 Bowlers Journal Amateur Bowler of the Year, 1987 Bowling Digest Bowler of the Year, 1987 World Bowling Writers Bowler of the Year, 1987 Sullivan Award Nominee. At the 1988 ABC National Tournament in Jacksonville, Florida, he placed 1st in the All-Events, 2nd in Singles and he was a member of the Team All-Events Champions. He was voted in as the 1988 PBA Rookie of the Year, and is a member of team Columbia and Vise Grip Staff.

His PBA titles include a 1991 BPA Touring Players/Seniors Doubles Championship (with Teata Semiz) and a 1997 PBA National Championship Champion. He received the Steve Hagy Sportsmanship award in 1997. In 1998 he was inducted into the NJCAA Bowling Hall of Fame and the Greater Wichita Bowling Association's Hall of Fame.

It is our honor tonight to induct Mr. Rick Steelsmith into the Kansas State Bowling Association's Hall of Fame. He has represented our state with great pride. Thanks!

Jerry Reynard

Jerry has been a resident of Kansas for 60 years. He has been involved in many facets of the bowling life, such as YABA, local programs and the Manhattan Bowling Association.

The past 7 years , he has served as the Director for the YABA in Manhattan, where he has continued his interest in our sport as the youth travel league coach and mentor. in 1993 he has received his training as a certified coach from YABA.

Jerry has been bowling since 1975. He has held the office as a league President. He continues, as president of one the the largest and more successful mixed leagues in Manhattan. Jerry participates in bowling two times a week. He has bowled a 300 game in 1999 and has ha high series of 768. Throughout the 90's he has averaged over 190 and three of these years over 200.

Jerry has served on the Manhattan Bowling Association as a Vice President for four years, and is currently serving as the President of the Manhattan Bowling Association. He has participated in all of the local City tournament, such as City Championships, Senior and the Top 10 Tournament. He has also participated in the Kansas State Bowling Association's annual championship Tournament, and there National Tournament (Wichita, Tulsa, and Las Vegas).

Jerry is a member of the Manhattan Bowling Association's Hall of Fame and now he can join the elite tonight, as we honor him into the Kansas State Bowling Association's Hall of Fame. Congratulations on a well deserved honor

Bob Reece

Bob began Bowling in 1967 and became a member of the Topeka Bowling Association in 1976. While a member of the Topeka Bowling Association, he has served on the Local Association's Board of Directors as a Director, Vice President, President and Ex-Officio. He is currently serving another term as Director, for the Topeka Bowling Association. He was elected as the Topeka Bowling Association's Director of the Year three times (1985, 1993, and 1995). He became a member of the Topeka Bowling Association's Hall of fame in 1997.

Bob has serve as a league secretary for over 15 years. He has participated in every tournament. Some of the tournaments he has participated in include the Greater Ozarks Open in Springfield, Missouri, the Topeka Bowling Association Championships tournament, the TBA/TWBA City Mixed Tournament and the ABC National Championship tournament for 18 years straight years. He has a high game of 298 to his credit and a high series of 772.

Bob was elected to serve on the Kansas State Bowling Association's Board of Directors in 1991 and is still very active with our board. He has attended many ABC Delegates Conventions, as the Delegate for the Topeka Bowling Association. He has served on many committees, such as Hall of Fame, Nominating, Lane Inspection, Bowler of the Year and Final Average Year Book Committee. the hours he has dedicated to the sport of bowling are countless.

It is our honor and pleasure to recognize Mr. Bob Reece as a new member into the Kansas State Bowling Association's Hall of Fame.

W.J. Kuestersteffen

W.J. has lived in Kansas his whole life. Country Lanes employed him from 1961 to 1992. He taught Junior League bowler from 1961 to 1986 and promoted all leagues and league bowling in Humbolt his whole life. He taught High School classes three hours hours a day, for eighteen weeks, for 12 years. During this time, he was doing what he enjoyed the most "Bowling" . He has and will always promote the sport of bowling to the best of his abilities.

W.J. has been a member of the Kansas State Bowling Association's Board of Directors since 1968. He is still an active member with the KSBA. He currently holds the position as a Director. While serving on the Kansas State Bowling Association, he has been involved in many committees. Some of the committees include Nominating, budget and Finance, Hall of Fame, Tournament Site Selection and Tournament Promotion and Study Committee.

It is the dedication and quiet nature and love of the game, which we are here tonight to honor him into the Kansas State Bowling Association's Hall of Fame! W.J., we want to thank you for everything you do.
