1999 Hall of Fame Inductees

Robert Porter

Bob has been involved in bowling in the Lawrence area for over 30 years, where he has served as Director, and a member of the Lawrence Bowling Association. In 1988 he was elected into the Lawrence Bowling Association Hall of Fame, and tonight we would like to accept him into the Kansas State Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He became a member of the Kansas State Bowling Association in 1985 as a Director and then moved up the ranks to Vice President in 1991. and is currently our President of the Kansas Bowling Association.

Bob has served on many boards, over his years of service to both the Lawrence Bowling Association and the Kansas State Bowling Association. Since 1989 he has been involved with the Y.A.B.A. managing board, where he has served on the budget and finance committee, and was chairman of the constitution committee. He is a member of the Kansas State bowling council and has served this council since 1991.

Bob bowls regularly in tow leagues weekly, plus the City Tournaments, State Tournaments, and the National tournament. As you can see, Bob is a very important person in our bowling community, especially the city of Lawrence and of course the State of Kansas. His efforts and long hours of committed work, only deserved him a spot in our Kansas State Bowling Association Hall of Fame! Thanks for all your hard work! Congratulations.

Dean Luthi

Dean has been a resident of Junction City since 1960. He has participated in many levels of the bowling Association's, such a Director for the Junction City - Fort Riley Bowling Association, Director of the Kansas State Elks Bowling Association, a Director of the Kansas State Bowling Association since 1979, and a chairman for the Junction City Elks Lodge # 1037.

Dean has participated in several tournament. Some of his tournament include: Kansas State Bowling Tournament, The Kansas State Elks Bowling Tournament (25 years), The Midwest Elks Bowling Tournament, the Peterson Classic, The Eagles State and American Legion Bowling tournaments. He also is heavily involved in the City and the National tournaments.

Dean sponsors one men's team and one mixed team in the Junction City area. He has always been there to help work the Kansas State Bowling tournament, when ever it is in Junction City Manhattan area. Bowling is very important to Dean, as you see, his travel's have taken him to allot of different areas and cities. The past couple of years, he has experienced some shoulder problems, but he still contributes to participate and enjoy the sport of bowling

Ed Pitt

Ed has been a resident of Kansas for 21 years. He moved to Yates Center in 1977. He immediately become involved in bowling for Yates Center. in 1979 he was elected as the Association Secretary, he held this office for two years, and then was elected a Director in 1983 In 1988 hew was elected Assistant Association Secretary and he held this office until 1995. In 1995 he was elected again as the Association Secretary for the Yates Center Bowling Association, and he is currently still in this position.

Ed has been involved in all aspects of the bowling industry such as league secretary, league president, a special Olympics coach, a certified Coach at the college level, a Director, an Assistant Secretary and a Association Secretary at the local level.

Ed has spent many hour of hard work and dedication in the Yates Center area, and for all of this we would like to accept him into the Kansas State Bowling Association Hall of Fame!

Dean Koppes
